ADOPT AN ENERGY SCIENTIST
PROJECT ENERGY/ENERGY LITERACY
Box 870231
Tuscaloosa, AL. 35487-0231

What:    Project Energy is in the process of developing a program entitled "Adopt an Energy Scientist." Through this program, Project Energy/Energy Literacy teachers and students in Alabama will have the opportunity to contact energy scientists directly via e-mail, Project Energy/Energy  Literacy website, or visits from the scientists to consult with students on projects and to answer questions they may have concerning energy.

Purpose:    This program is designed to connect classroom teachers and students directly to energy experts in the field, while enhancing partnerships between students, teachers, and energy researchers.

How:     We plan to develop a list of available scientists who agree to help with the program and distribute this list to Project Energy/Energy Literacy teachers, so they may contact an energy scientist when questions concerning energy arise.

Areas:    We plan to offer a wide variety of energy related areas. Areas include physics-computer modeling, fusion energy, fission energy, petroleum geology, energy conservation, energy and the environment, collection and recycling of used motor oil, computational chemistry, semiconducting materials, fiber optics, optical materials, nonlinear optics, and many more.

If you are interested in participating in this program, please fill out the bottom of this form and return by December 10, 1998.
