BCT Computer Program

BCT 100  Computer Concepts 

The student will develop cognitive competencies and/or skills as indicated: knowledge of computer hardware, knowledge of computer software, skills of word processing, skills of database, skills of spreadsheet, skills of PowerPoint, related computer skills, and ability to use the Internet. 

BCT 300 Computer Education Applications

This course is designed in accordance with the College's adopted knowledge base to prepare teachers and other school and training personnel to be facilitators of learning. It addresses the "curricular planning and selection of instructional tasks" and "instructional methodology" sections of the knowledge base. For non-education majors, the intent is to provide opportunities to develop skills considered integral to participation in the workforce for the next century, regardless of profession. 

BCT 400 Computer Education and Curriculum Development

This course features the application of current and emerging instructional technologies to product development embedded in the context of discipline-specific projects. Cognitive, product and skill competencies are included. Cognitive competencies are integrated into product & skills evaluations. Products are required to reflect some competencies, while skills competencies are either observed directly or inferred from the products. 

BCT 420 Computer Graphics in Education

This course includes opportunities for students to explore the use of graphics, including animation, in various types of electronic products, including web pages and multimedia products. This course uses individually developed products to reflect skill and knowledge in the development of graphics and their specific products. 

BCT 450 Multimedia and Interactive Video Development in Education

This is an examination of the specific ways that interactive video instructon (multimedia) can be used for education and training, as well as for informational purposes. This course uses individually developed products to reflect skill and knowledge in the development of interactive and multimedia products.
