BCT 400
BACKGROUND
Local Area Networks, called LANS, are central to the operation of most
schools and companies. You need to have some basic understanding of what
a LAN is and how it helps you be more productive in various environments.
You can find out what a LAN is by using the Technology Encyclopedia on
the following location: http://www.emTech.net
(this is a page maintained by your BCT professors to assist educators around
the world). Once you are at the encyclopedia, try Local Area Network and
then try LAN to see if you can find the precise definitions and descriptions.
Read through the descriptions so that you can answer the questions shown
further down this assignment.
Also go to this monthly newsletter (OS Internet In-Sites) to find
links to learn more about LANs. Check out the new issues on the 15h of
each month. Also check the archived issues for more information. Here is
the address: http://www.osinternetin-sites.net
In addition, you can find information on the emTech site (http://www.emTech.net)
on LANS if you look closely within the categories. Read what information
you can locate through this source.
