Enhanced Personal Homepage

BACKGROUND

You already know how to make a homepage and have done so in earlier classes. Now we want you to apply the new skills you are acquiring in this course, such as making original sound clips. You are also making an online resume, so we want to be sure you link from your enhanced personal homepage to your resume; you will have posted your resume on your bama account, so be sure to link to it from your homepage. If you need to brush up on NETSCAPE COMPOSER, go the tutorial for COMPOSER on the tutorials page.

We are hoping that you will use your personal homepage as part of your job application packet when you prepare to enter the job market. Some students use this personal homepage to give some idea to potential employers about them as a person. Other students make the page purely for fun, a very personal homepage to be shared with friends.

You can put your page on BAMA or post it on your own ISP. That's up to you.

INSTRUCTIONS

YOUR HOMEPAGE SHOULD HAVE THINGS ALREADY DONE IN BCT 300. BUT, if you DO NOT have your homepage from 300, your advanced page for this class should have these things PLUS the list for 400.  The things for your basic page are:
  • At least five Icons or Images from the Internet
  • A least 6 digital images (use a digital camera or scanned images)
  • A Background Gif or Jpg for all of the Pages
  • At Least ten Hypertext Links to External URL Sites
  • At least five content pages included in your web site
  • Page Back or Back to Home Page Icons on all pages
  • Text Colors: Normal Text, Normal Link, Active Link, and Visited Text
  • At least one organizational link
  • Overall design
  • Overall creativity
  • Your linked Email address
Use either your existing 300 page or build your own homepage that includes the features above (basic) and the advanced, enhanced once below  :

Important:

When you are saving ALL your files (sounds, webpages, images, etc.), DO NOT USE SPACES OR SYMBOLS IN YOUR FILENAMES. Get used to using lowercase letters, that way you keep consistent with all filenames. Many ISPs, including BAMA, are case sensitive, so there is a difference between uppercase and lowercase letters. If you use spaces your files will NOT come up when viewed online. A similar thing happens if the computer is trying to look for a name that has a different latter case, those files will not appear. BE CONSISTENT: NO SPACES, USE ONLY LOWERCASE.

POSTING YOUR HOMEPAGE

  • you are to post your advanced homepage on your bama account
  • you can also post it, instead, if you wish, on your other ISP account. If you are in doubt on this, send an email to your professor
