TViewâ Gold
PC-to-TV-Video Converter
TView Gold Video converter is a tool that can be used to connect a computer to a television. When properly connected, the television becomes a large screen display that shows everything that is on the screen of the computer. TView Gold can be used to give presentations to peers or lessons to classes. TView Gold can also be used as a helpful alternate if there is no projector available at your school.
Connecting the TView Gold to a PC or Laptop
1. Be sure before starting, that the following items are included in the TView Gold package:
a. TView Gold Univiewer
b. 15 pin, TView to monitor cable
c. Remote control – this may be used for panning, zooming, and freezing capabilities
d. Power Adapter
e. S-Video cable
f. RCA composite video cable
g. CD software
2. Keep the computer’s power OFF until ALL of the connections have been made. The computer will only recognize the monitor cable if it is freshly booted up.
3. First, connect the end of the monitor cable that is labeled “computer” (the end that has the 15 pins in it) into the corresponding port in the back of your computer. Next, insert the end of the monitor cable that is labeled “TView” (the other end that has the 15 pins in it) into the port at the rear of the TView Gold labeled “Video In.”
4. After you have connected the monitor cable to the TView Gold Univiewer, screw the cable into the Univiewer to ensure the best connection. (If you are using a desktop computer instead of a laptop, you will have to unplug and unscrew the desktop monitor cable from the back of the computer and insert it into the part of the monitor cable labeled “monitor”).
5. Lastly, connect the power adapter to the rear of the TView Gold and the other end into a wall outlet. When the adapter is properly connected to a wall outlet, you will see a red power LED at the front of the unit come on.
1. Connect the S-Video cable OR the RCA Composite Video cable to the port at the rear of the TView Gold labeled either “S-Video” or “Comp Video." (You only need to connect one or the other. The S-Video will give a little crisper picture than the RCA Composite Video cable).
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the S-Video or comp Video port into the back of the television.
3. Turn the television on and then the TView Gold Univiewer on.
4. Lastly, turn the computer on and the image from the computer should appear on the television screen.
If you find the picture quality on the television not to be as clear as the monitor on the computer, this is normal. A computer’s resolution is higher than that of a television’s. The two resolutions are typically not compatible, but the TView Gold hardware enables the two to be used together. You can improve the quality on the television screen somewhat by switching the display properties to a resolution of 640 by 480.
1. Right click on the desktop and select “properties”.
2. Click on the “Settings” tab.
3. Be sure the resolution is set to 640 by 480 pixels by moving the “desktop area” slider to the left, and under “color palette (or color quality)”, set the colors to at least 256 if not higher.
4. Also, check that you have a refresh rate of 60 HZ or better. Click on the “Advanced properties” button. Click on the “Monitor” Tab. Check to be sure 60 HZ is available.
5. Click on the “Apply” button, then “OK”, and “Yes”.
6. Last, “Restart the Computer.” This will allow the new driver to load.
