Now, to start creating your movie. The first step is to put your movie clips in the correct order in the timeline. Make sure you are in timeline mode. If not, click on "Show Timeline" at the bottom of the window. The screen to the right shows the steps on adding a clip to the timeline.
To add another clip, just repeat the process outlined above, and drop the selected clip after (or before) another clip in the timeline. When played, the movie will go straight from one clip to another. To create a "fade" transition, highlight the clip you wanted faded into, and drag it slightly into the clip before it. This should create a blue graphic (as shown). The more the clips overlap, the longer the fade lasts.
A great new feature with Windows Movie Maker 2 is the addition of a transitions library. These premade transitions provide seamless movement in your movie. To insert a transition, first make sure there is a "-" next to "Video" on the timeline. If there is a "+", click on it to unhide the Transitions and Audio tracks. Then, go to Tools in the menu bar, and click on "Video Transitions." This will give you many different transitions to insert between clips.
Your main window will look like the picture on the left. (1). To insert a transition, select the transition you want, and drag it to the area between clips, as shown.(2). That's it! Like with most of the things outlined in these tutorials, play around with this. Try out different transitions, and the transition length. The change the length, just drag the second clip less or more into the first clip. |
